We are looking for a Staff Payroll Accointant and Tax Specialist to join our growing team!

Job Description

The Staff Payroll Accountant & Tax Specialist will serve as the subject matter expert for matters related to payroll taxes while also providing payroll-related services to National Vision employees. This position will assist with the bi-weekly payroll cycle to ensure timely and accurate processing while maintaining compliance with all federal, state and local agencies.

What Would You Do?

  • Prepares necessary forms, files and documentation for filing payroll taxes for all tax jurisdictions which includes: auditing of periodic, quarterly and annual tax withholding and resolving any balancing issues before file transmission.
  •   Submits periodic tax files to tax service provider to ensure tax deposits are made timely and accurately. Researches CTS transmission reports and reviews tax code fallout reports.
  •  Researches tax issues and recommends solutions to the Payroll Manager.
  •  Assists with review of Pre-Payroll, Pre-Check and Post Payroll Business Intelligence audits.
  • Proactively recommends improvements to the tax administration processes; immediately communicates issues to the Payroll Manager for action
  •  Completes multiple worksite reports and ensures data is accurately set-up in the payroll system for reporting.
  •  Trains team members on tax administration processes to ensure back up coverage is in place.
  • Performs Payroll Administration duties for assigned Regions, which includes answering payroll questions from associates, issuing manual checks, auditing and correcting payroll records, importing assigned payment files for bonuses, incentives and time and attendance and ensuring bi-weekly payroll processes are completed accurately and on-time.
  • Transmits Positive Pay and direct deposit files to appropriate backing institutions.
  • Serves as the primary contact for Ceridian Tax Services.
  • Maintains job-related policies, procedures, and process documentation.
  • Monitors payroll tax-related mail for potential action items.

Qualifications

  • Four year college degree, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years related experience 2+ years of experience with payroll taxes
  • General accounting knowledge

PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) and/or Certified Payroll Professional (CCP) designation
