Job Description
Summary
The CFO will be responsible for leading all finance and accounting activity for the company. Reporting directly to the CEO along with the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Revenue Officer, this highly visible position will have responsibility for financial planning, performance management, financial reporting, mergers & acquisitions, capital management, organizational leadership, and Finance department staff supervision. This leader will ensure the Finance and Accounting functions can support and drive the company’s aggressive growth plans and will regularly participate in Board meetings.
Essential Functions
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance
- Participate in the development of the organization’s plans and programs as a strategic partner, especially in regard to SaaS-based and/or subscription-based business models
- Evaluate and advise on the impact of long range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies, and regulatory action
- Assist in the development of organizational growth forecasts, targets and performance metrics
- Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization; i.e., evaluation of potential acquisitions, mergers, and possible capital sources and managing post-close transition activities.
- Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, forecast scenarios, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the CEO, the Board, and other senior executives in regard to planning and evaluating business performance.
- Develop, implement, and enforce financial policies and procedures for the organization to enhance operational effectiveness
- Provide technical financial knowledge to others within the financial discipline and beyond
- Continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting department budgets
- Optimize the handling of bank, lender and investor relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position
- Develop and maintain a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs
- Be an advisor from a business risk and financial perspective on any contracts or other legal documents into which the organization may enter
- Lead the organization’s risk management function to evaluate business risks and find strategies to mitigate those risks.
- Lead the organization’s regulatory and compliance function including accurate and timely filing of all required federal, state and local taxes and registrations.
- Lead the team managing the day-to-day operations of the donor advised fund of our affiliated nonprofit partner, Network for Good.org.
- Evaluate the finance department structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as provide individuals with professional and personal growth and development coaching
Qualifications
- Direct experience in SaaS-based and/or subscription-based business models required
- Advanced degree required with 10+ years of related Finance/Accounting experience and training.
- MBA highly preferred
- CPA a plus
- Strong history of ethical conduct and risk-mitigation experience
- Organizational leadership and team building proficiency
- Strategic thinker and business partner to C-level executives and management team
- Strong communication skills, particularly in relation to advanced financial ideas communicated to staff
- Highly analytical with a strong technical capacity with spreadsheet, database, and other software-based financial systems
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics/Great Plains and reporting solutions such as Management Reporter and/or Tableau is a plus
