Job Description
Position Summary
Assists in high-quality execution of production logistics (including audio, lighting, video production, and stage operations) for events, performances, and other activities at the New World Center for both New World Symphony and its external partners and rental clients.
Duties and responsibilities
- 60%: Assist Production staff in timely execution of production logistics and operations including load-in, setup, operation, changeover, tear-down, and load-out of stage equipment (including staging, lighting, audio, and video systems) for rehearsals, events, and performances
- 30%: Assist Production staff in program activity logistics and operations including participating in room setups, changeovers, and teardowns
- 10%: Assist Production staff in regular and scheduled maintenance of equipment and systems
Qualifications
Education and experience
- A combination of education and experience commensurate with an undergraduate degree in a performing arts, events and hospitality, logistics, or another related field is preferred. Otherwise qualified applicants without formal educational credits will be considered for this position with at least one year of relevant work experience in a related or similar field.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- General knowledge of performance and event conventions and vocabulary
- Basic knowledge of musical performance conventions and forms
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill in at least one of the following areas (or a related field):
- Stage Operations
- Live Audio Production
- Lighting (Theatre, Dance, Rock, Events)
- Video Production
- Demonstrated experience in collaborative teamwork
- Demonstrated skill in applied problem-solving
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with coworkers of a diverse group of backgrounds and personalities
- Ability to accurately express and exchange information in time-sensitive performance situations
- Ability to assess and determine accurate information for setup of equipment and instruments from diagrams and/or drawings
Physical requirements
- Remains in a stationary position for less than 20% of time when actively performing essential job functions
- Regularly ascends and descends stairs and stepladders
- Constantly moves, transports, positions, and removes items such as chairs, risers, boxes, tables, instruments, audio equipment, lighting instruments, cabling, and other items that may be bulky or heavy (up to 50 pounds)
- Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions in South Florida during event setups and operations
