The New World Symphony (NWS) prepares graduates of music programs for leadership roles in professional orchestras and ensembles. Since its co-founding in 1987 by Artistic Director Laureate Michael Tilson Thomas and Lin and Ted Arison, NWS has helped launch the careers of more than 1,200 alumni worldwide. In 2022 Stéphane Denève was named Artistic Director of the New World Symphony. Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide impeccable customer service to all patrons and guests via phone, email and in person during regular Box Office hours, performances and events by exhibiting a positive attitude, listening and resolving issues effectively
  • Attend to ticket sales and other patron transactions at the Box Office window
  • Process ticket orders in database (Tessitura) according to established standards
  • Make outbound phone calls to patrons as needed 
  • Manage communications and customer support for the VIP Membership program
  • Perform other job-related administrative tasks as assigned

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of customer services experience, preferably in a box office setting; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to interact positively and sensitively with a variety of personalities in various settings 
  • Ability to remain calm and maintain composure during challenging situations 
  • Fluency in English required; fluency in Spanish highly desired
  • Some database and/or ticketing software experience required; Tessitura experience desired
  • Superior time management and prioritization skills 
  • High degree of organization and attention to detail 
  • A collaborative and team-focused work style 
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision 
  • Interest in orchestral music and/or music education 
  • Strong dedication to equity, diversity and inclusion

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends onsite at New World Center
