Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION Plan and maintain resource development by developing new funding possibilities through research and grant proposal submission and fundraising activities based on the mission of the Agency. This position will assist with various administrative duties, and participate in the development of agency policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Goal Achievement – increase Agency capacity through new funding streams (i.e. government grants, foundation grants, philanthropy)
• Assist in developing and implementing the agency planning process, including work plans and budgets, and preparing applications for submission to funding sources. Develop and update as necessary the project organization structure, including job descriptions, lines of authority, and accountability
• Assist in developing and monitoring budgets for all project funds and ensure expenditures are within budget allocations
• Prepare the agency Annual Report
• Responsible for compiling and preparing the Agency Community Needs Assessment
• Responsible for implementing agency policies (including personnel, fiscal, planning, etc.) within the project and for complying with funding source requirements
• Stay informed about project related legislative and technical developments. Keep senior management and project staff informed of developments
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships between program staff and other agency personnel, governmental entities, relevant community agencies, public officials, and funding sources
• Identify and prepare grants to acquire funding for support services to the targeted population
• Assist in planning, directing, and participation in a public information program to ensure the area is aware of the purpose and goals of the program
• Work collaboratively with staff members, especially program directors, to identify avenues of economic support for programs/projects that will support the target population
• Responsible for ongoing monitoring, measuring, and evaluation of program effectiveness including goal achievement and program impact
• Projects a positive image of the Organization to staff, families, program participants and the community
• Maintains knowledge about the external environment as it relates to ending poverty
• Participate in training activities as deemed necessary by supervisor
• Perform additional related duties as assigned by supervisor
• Keep work area clean and neat in appearance
• Accepts and executes special assignments as requested by the Chief Executive Officer
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Normal physical activity includes frequent sitting, standing, and walking in a usual workday.
• Requires occasional twisting at desk when answering phone or typing at computer.
• Requires retrieving files by pulling & pushing filing cabinet drawers with occasional bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and reaching above shoulder level.
• Requires employee to lift and carry heavy objects such as boxes of supplies and children.
• Requires use of the five senses (hearing, seeing, touching, smelling, and tasting) to perform various job duties and in dealing with staff, clients, and outside.
• Requires employee to use hands, arms, feet, legs, neck and head while performing Agency tasks.
• Requires employee to occasionally crawl and twist in performing duties.
• Requires frequent speaking/hearing abilities with staff, co-workers, parents, and supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Accepts responsibility for the direction, control, planning and implementation of program activities, events, and tasks for all funded programs.
• Able to gather relevant data, conduct an analysis, and arrive at conclusions in order to develop recommendations for management action on various cost related issues.
• Demonstrates effective leadership, management, and training skills.
• Deals with people beyond giving and receiving instructions--is courteous, cooperative, conscientious, and tactful in dealing with employees and the general public.
• Performs job duties in a precise, thorough, and meticulous manner.
• Able to handle various projects at the same time in an effective manner.
• Knowledgeable of office practices and administrative procedures and possesses the ability to interpret and properly apply policies, rules, and regulations.
• Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills towards all Agency staff and the general public.
• Performs well under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual, or dangerous situations.
• Requires ability to plan, direct, and review the work of subordinate personnel.
• Travels to seminars and meetings as directed.
• Knowledge of basic management theory, practices, and methods with at least one (1) year of experience in their application
• Knowledge of program area obtained through at least one (1) year of experience
• Knowledge of agency purpose, goals, mission, policies and procedures, and resources of the Agency
• Ability to prepare funding proposals and budgets
• Ability to effectively coordinate projects with other agency programs
• Ability to speak effectively in public

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Planning, Business Administration, Finance, Management or related field from four (4) year college or university preferred; with experience and knowledge of Annual Giving, Capital Campaign, Foundation/Corporate solicitations, Communications and Special Events; or four (4) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Must, at hire, obtain and pass an initial employment Tuberculosis (TB) test or x-ray, if applicable, with a licensed medical provider of his/her choice and periodically as indicated by the regional Texas Department of State Health Services or local health authority.
• Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
• Must successfully pass and submit a post offer initial physical examination.
• Must have transportation and current liability coverage on vehicle to be used in the performance of job duties. Moderate travel on a daily basis may be required.
• Must possess a valid Texas Driver's license (Operators-Class C), and driving record must be approved by insurance company on an annual basis.
• Able to effectively use computer, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
• Dresses in appropriate business attire and is professional in appearance and mannerisms.
• Proof of work eligibility must be provided.
