Job Description

Seeking a suitable, qualified, and reliable Operator-Mine Control. The purpose of this position is to operate, control, monitor and report on plant and equipment associated with Underground Mining production and support systems. The role will report to the Senior Engineer-Production.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Collect mine production data during the shift via radio calls and automated data collection
  • Monitor safety systems and mine infrastructure status
  • Provide initial incident response communication for mine incidents
  • Facilitate information transfer during shifts between operators and supervisors
  • Provide area control and personnel monitoring
  • Provide dispatch guidance during the shift
  • Track asset locations during the shift
  • Notify mechanical and electrical maintenance personnel of machine status
  • Maintain key material stock levels via registers and alerting to low levels
  • Create various reports for performance during the shift

Qualifications

  • Behaviour consistent with OceanaGold Corp. Values and the OceanaGold Way
  • College graduate or equivalent
  • Prior experience working on a minesite
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, especially MS Excel
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, communication and organisational skills with attention to detail
  • The ability to multitask while remaining calm in a fast paced environment
  • With a valid Professional Driver’s License
