Job Description
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Lead the Safety team in OHS compliance (regulatory and internal programs) through ongoing audits and inspections focusing on continual improvement
- Promote health, safety, and environmental awareness in order to prevent injuries and/or damages
- Ensure all OHSC members under Safety Section duly participate in performance management and conduct safety meetings
- Lead and coach the team of safety professionals to deliver an effective and interactive service to the operation and provide leadership in maintaining/implementing ISO certification
- Conduct internal audits on previous incident investigations to assess the effectiveness of corrective actions and facilitate the review of incident investigations using ICAM methodology
Qualifications
- Behaviour consistent with OceanaGold Corp. Values and the OceanaGold Way
- Qualifications in Mining or any related engineering course
- 5 years of experience in mining operation/or mine safety work
- With underground mining experience
- Completed the Basic Occupational Safety and Health Training
- In-depth understanding of the Mining Act and Regulations
- Familiar with internally accepted health and safety standards
