Job Description

Seeking a suitably qualified, and reliable Accounts Assistant (Management Accounting) to support the management accounting team with various tasks such general accounting and financial reporting. This position is responsible for the timely processing of all Social Development Management Plan (SDMP) payments to partner communities, clients and contractors and in ensuring the integrity of financial data in relation to SDMP project cost reporting. The role will report to the Supervisor-Management Accounting.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Prepares accurate SDMP financial reports in a timely manner;
  • Analyzes the contents of General Ledger accounts, account schedules and initiates adjustments of abnormal and incorrect balances and identifies issues and makes recommendations for addressing them;
  • Review invoices for accuracy and completeness;
  • Resolves invoice discrepancies with vendors, suppliers, and contractors;
  • Manages vendors suppliers, and contractor's inquiries regarding payment status;
  • Monitors project expenditures and individual expenses for reporting purposes;
  • Reads, interprets and uses SDMP budget and projections proficiently;
  • Identifies wasteful financial practices or opportunities for greater efficiencies and makes recommendations to their immediate supervisor;

Qualifications

  • Behaviour consistent with OceanaGold Values and the OceanaGold Way;
  • Graduate of Accountancy;
  • 1-year experience in an accounting environment;
  • Knowledge of journal entries and bookkeeping;
  • Skills in problem-solving;
  • Skills in working attentively and with a high level of accuracy; and
  • Ability to work under pressure, work as a team and multi-tasking.
