Job Description

Seeking a suitably qualified and reliable Technician – Geological Services for a fixed term employment to be based in Surigao to support and assist the company in its pursuit of exploration and discovery of Au-Cu deposits in the Philippines. The role will report to the Senior Geologist – Exploration.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Participate in geological field surveys and mapping exercises under the guidance of senior geologists
  • Assist in the conduct of exploration fieldwork as directed that include geologic mapping, geophysical survey, geochemical sampling, surveying, trenching, and drilling supervision
  • Coordinate with the geologists and casual labour on the day-to-day activities of the exploration projects
  • Assist with routine administrative tasks relating to exploration programmes;
  • Assist in the documentation of exploration data that includes data entry and map generation
  • Drill pad preparation and rehabilitation
  • Sampling and sample management
  • Perform other duties as required by the geologists to support the successful implementation of exploration programs
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during fieldwork activities, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Qualifications

  • Behaviour consistent with OceanaGold Values and the OceanaGold Way
  • At least two-year experience as geologic aide or field assistant in an exploration and mine setting
  • Possess knowledge and skills in exploration works
  • Basic knowledge in geology an advantage
  • Must be physically fit and able to work in remote conditions
  • Good communication skills both oral and written
  • 4WD experience
  • Drive for continuous improvement and innovation
