Job Description

The OfficeMax Store Operations Supervisor is responsible for supporting the store leadership team to ensure that the store is running at optimal state. This position is responsible for promoting a selling environment, encompassing sales, customer service, expense control, and store profitability. The Store Operations Supervisor oversee the front and back-end operations of the store as well as the sales floor stocking and planogram processes.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred
    • Minimum of 2 years of sales and customer service experience in a professional retail selling environment
    • Previous supervisory and cash handling experience preferred
    • Knowledge of PC software and other technology sold in the store
    • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds regularly and climb ladders
    • Ability to stand and move about for extended periods of time with only brief periods of sitting
    • Ability to lead and direct the work of others in a supportive manner to promote a selling environment
    • Ability to coach and train store associates and specialists on customer service and selling techniques
    • Ability to follow up on operational processes and provide feedback on proper execution to store leadership
    • Ability to develop action plans for areas of opportunity with in the operations area.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as necessary
    • Ability to interact with customers and associates in a professional, positive and courteous manner
    • Ability to use electronic communication devices during all working hours which includes wearing a headset or a device on or in the ear

 

 

  1. Responsible for understanding key business strategies and goals and assisting the store leadership team in the execution of strategies and achievement of goals in a selling environment.
  2. Support store leadership in actions to interview, select, train and develop store associates to promote a selling culture.
  3. Monitor performance of associates throughout store and coach associates when necessary in support of building long-term customer relationships.
  4. Attend to issues that arise between associates or with customer on site and follow-up with management for resolution as applicable.
  5. Maintain cash office files and reports and perform cash pulls, make change orders and deposits; monitor and address bad debt issues at the front end.
  6. Perform register transactions according to established policy.
  7. Ensure backend procedures are completed and maintained to standards. (e.g. freight processing (DSD shipments), D&D, RTVs, transfers, price changes, etc.).
  8. Perform Manager on Duty responsibilities and support the selling environment as outlined in the MOD standards.
  9. Perform all opening and closing functions, including all cash handling functions, daily balancing and reconciliation process and security of the building.
  10. Assist with the training of associates on store processes and standards related to relevant areas of responsibility.
  11. Be aware of and perform the management responsibilities of all situations outlined in the Emergency Response Guide.
  12. Respond to off hours emergency alarm calls as needed.
  13. Direct store associates and partner with Store Manager to achieve store standards throughout store, including execution of planograms, pricing and signage programs, and maintenance of data integrity.
  14. Ensure returned merchandise is restocked to the correct location and that damaged or defective merchandise is labeled and placed in the appropriate area as required.
  15. Follow up with customers who have contacted the corporate offices with requests or complaints. Resolve any complaints to ensure customer satisfaction.
  16. Monitor operational and logistics reports to identify opportunities for improved execution as required.
  17. Assist in the supervision and execution of action plans to manage payroll, control shrink and manage other controllable expenses.
  18. Support the store’s shrink and theft awareness program and advise management of any unusual activity using the various reporting methods provided by the company (800 number, Open Door Policy, contacting Loss Prevention or Human Resources team).
  19. Assists with opening and/or closing duties as needed.
  20. Represent OfficeMax and its efforts to support its communities.
  21. Support store leadership to ensure that the store operates in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  22. Demonstrate a commitment to OfficeMax core values.
