Job Description

The alternative delivery leader role is responsible for strategy in creating the framework for successful execution of alternative delivery projects, providing input on pursuit strategy, overseeing alternative delivery technical expertise, quality, and risk mitigation measures across the firm. The alternative delivery leader develops internal processes and procedures and ensures they are supported across the firm to manage the firm’s exposure and risk.

  • Develops and oversees risk management practices, project controls resources, and change management processes for alternative delivery projects.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for the firm, acting as an advisor internally and externally.
  • Elevates the firm’s level of alternative delivery capabilities by educating staff on various delivery methods and risks.
  • Provides firmwide direction, internal consultation, and oversight of services for alternative delivery projects regarding scheduling, project controls, cost estimating/procurement, risk analysis, and budgetary contingencies.
  • Consults firmwide on initiatives related to alternative delivery, including project pursuits, project evaluation, and project execution.
  • Leads alternative delivery staff, ensuring a strong team for the firm’s alternative delivery activities.
  • Ensures the adoption of alternative delivery standards, regulations, and firm objectives.
  • Implements standards and guidelines to improve service levels, quality, and limit risk, resulting in high-quality and financially successful alternative delivery projects.
  • Develops data analytics approaches to monitor and improve the performance of the firm’s alternative delivery activities.
  • Stays abreast of market changes related to alternative delivery and advises on current conditions.
  • Collaborates internally to develop and implement strategies and best practices that align with alternative delivery trends and standards.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key stakeholders, industry partners, and professional organizations to stay informed of developments and to identify opportunities for collaboration.
  • May represent the firm on governing bodies of professional organizations to elevate the profession and the firm’s brand.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 12 years’ experience in the consulting or construction industry  
  • Experience successfully leading alternative delivery projects and teams
  • Certified Design-Build Professional preferred 
  • Is thoroughly familiar with the firm’s services, clientele, goals, policies, and procedures aligned with the firm’s tenets, values, and vision.
  • Is thoroughly familiar with Olsson’s Quality Management Program.
  • Has a strong understanding of engineering business consulting.
  • Possesses highly specialized technical knowledge related to alternative delivery methods and projects.
  • Has strong interpersonal and facilitation skills.
  • Has successful experience in developing technical knowledge and capacity.
  • Has a valid driver’s license and good driving history.
  • Has a willingness to work a flexible schedule and is comfortable with a high volume of travel.
  • Represents Olsson in a professional manner at all times.
