Sourcing Engineer

Job Description

  • Serving as the global procurement team member for mechanical parts categories to support global/regional category manager to achieve category objectives.
  • Conduct local supply market research to optimize the supply chain continuously for global sourcing and APAC region requirement.
  • To be sourced items include castings, gears, machined parts, and other mechanical components.
  • Proactively take actions in realizing various departmental targets, such as total cost reduction, suppliers’performance, suppliers’risk management and long term partnership development
  • Support the development and implementation of effective category strategies to ensure project or entity requirements are achieved in technology, quality, responsiveness, delivery, and cost. 
  • Engage suppliers with any technical issues related to the products, cooperate with other colleagues to provide suppliers with necessary guidance if required.
  • Regularly report to management on suppliers’ production capacity and performance, such as price, service, quality, etc.
  • Make sure company’s procurement policies and procedures are followed in daily activities.
  • Manage new product introduction including cooperating with R&D and the supplier to optimize the design and get better price.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical engineering with minimum 7 years experience in strategic sourcing/purchasing, engineering or other related functions.
  • Understand the machining process, knowledge of machining cost is preferred.
  • Strong sourcing experience in mechanical parts etc..
  • Good understanding of components specification and manufacturing process.
  • Self-driven, result, process and teamwork oriented.
  • Strong English communication ability in speaking, writing and reading.
  • Experience working in a global environment is preferred
  • Strong analytical ability. Strong professional negotiating skills .Good business judgment and risk management skills. High personal integrity and ethical standards
  • Solid computer skills in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Frequently travel is needed.
