Job Description

The Checking Fixtures Design Engineer is responsible for designing and developing precise checking fixtures used in quality control to verify the dimensional accuracy of manufactured parts and assemblies

  • Lead new design ideation & development for product and Tooling
  • Develop packaging studies and evaluate to specifications
  • Ensure gDAP (Design Assurrance Plan) & Packaging Checklist/ CS-Routing is completed prior to each release
  • Develop new corporate preproduction and manage production CAD data structures
  • Ensure Clash & Clearance Computer Aided Design (CAD) Step verification is completed & issues managed
  • Develop Design Quality Tools
  • Application of Computer Aided Design (Computer Aided Design (CAD) templates to all programs
  • Incorporation of competitive scan data into Teamcenter & dimensional data systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of engineering experience - designing and developing metallic components (Fixtures and tooling components)
  • Experience with OEM or supplier.
  • Experience with Catia V5, NX, and Teamcenter
  • Experience with welding, stamping, bending, GD&T, knowledge in high strenght steels, etc.
  • Create and analyze alternative designs and integrate systems and components.
  • Knowledge in product development of automotive components and tooling.
  • Problem solving skills
