Job Description

  • Develop and implement process improvements that enhance productivity to existing tooling in collaboration with production and Engineering department.
  • Estimate a technical solution based on a requirement and produce specifications.
  • Ensure that the tooling process is followed, and that ordered and requested tooling is delivered on time, on budget and to the right quality.
  • Foster effective collaboration between internal teams (Quality and Maintenance) to validate tasks through strategic and clear communication.
  • Lead efforts to cultivate a customer-centric mindset within the organization.
  • Define and gather the tools required for the manufacture or assembly of aircraft components to ensure the required geometric tolerancing.
  • Participate in investigating and identifying risks related to pre-FAL.
  • Research technical solutions to meet needs by analyzing various options with suppliers.
  • Be responsible for synthesizing simple to complex situations and presenting them to different levels through meetings, maintain various follow-up files, keep IPCs up to date.
  • Manage activities in the various phases of projects: feasibility study, project mandate and business plan, acquisition, implementation and production start-up.
  • Manage change requests arising during project execution.
  • Establish, Interpret, verify and approve drawings and other documents from the engineering department. Approve supplier tooling drawings (CDR).
  • Follow-up with suppliers according to milestones.
  • Carry out supplier visits or plant visits for suppliers as required.
  • Attend all meetings with the purchasing department.
  • Check that all documents required for the job are supplied.
  • Be the signatory of milestone minutes for all tooling (mandatory).

 

Qualifications

  • College diploma in tooling design; bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering, industrial product design or any other relevant diploma.
  • Be a member of the OIQ (an asset).
  • Relevant in manufacturing and mechanical design.
  • Relevant experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Reading and interpretation of technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of assembly processes (key characteristics of simple or complex assembly tooling, capability analysis tool, etc).
  • Knowledge of IT tools like Catia V5, SAP, Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of elementary parts would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods and aeronautical standards (including Canadian and US standards).
  • You have solid experience in continuous improvement and organizational skills, team spirit, responsiveness.
  • You can play a key role in problem-solving methodology.
  • You have the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in French and English.
