Job Description
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Leverage total company spend on Direct Materials for John Crane entities in scope and manage the supply chain to obtain improved safety, quality, delivery and cost as well as championing compliance to Smiths Group PLC policies. Work to satisfy John Crane Internal Customers on projects. Execute and contribute to a global strategic supply chain vision, strategy, and methodology in support of John Crane goals and objectives to gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Work with Operations, Engineering and Project Management functions to successfully execute Projects within Support Systems Portfolio. Lead procurement activities for this Portfolio in Latam
- Accountable for execution of direct materials and subcontract purchasing in line with Smiths Group PLC Code of Conduct, ensuring that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships
- Ensuring approval of Purchase Orders in line with the Delegation of Authority policy and approval process
- Ensure the timely and efficient processing and acknowledgement of purchase orders and MRP action messages (Order, Expedite, De-Expedite, Cancel) or purchase requisitions to fulfil the material requirements
- Build and maintain relationships with new and existing suppliers
- Negotiate improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
- Control Direct material costs and achieve savings as per annual targets
- Develop ideas to improve operational efficiency, add value and support continuous improvement culture and personal accountability in area of responsibility
Qualifications
- Desirable Diploma or University Degree in Engineering discipline (Mechanical/Electrical preferred), or in progress.
- 5 years of overall experience with 3+ years of experience working within a purchasing/ supply chain department
- Experience in technical specification and selection of vendors, including material and product knowledge.
- Delivered actual cost savings or other efficiency benefits within the organization.
- Experience in procuring / sourcing process-based measuring instruments such as (various gauges & transmitters), piping components such as (pipe fittings, pipes, tubes, flanges fittings fasteners, gaskets), critical components such as (pumps, coolers, accumulator, motors etc)
- Experience in procuring / sourcing on fabrication API Plans, spools, skids, auxiliary systems etc is an added advantage.
- Experience in handling import items and customs knowledge will be preferred.
- Experience on the different certification on process equipment is an added advantage.
- Knowledge on SAP will be preferred.
Additional Information
Experience:

- Experience on the different certification on process equipment is an added advantage.
- Knowledge on ERP System SAP will be preferred.
- Complete project material procurement ownership for assign project & tracking of materials for on-time deliveries (OTD).
- Prepare & maintain procurement tracker with deliverables for the assign project.
- Coordination with the concerned internal stake holders and liaise with the vendors for technical vetting and commercials.
- Vendor development/Selections for high quality products with competitive pricing.
- Negotiate with suppliers on lead-time, cost and quality so as to obtain the maximum benefit for the company and project the savings appropriately.
- Manage suppliers to meet objectives related to cost, delivery performance, schedule, and quality to meet department goal.
- Review and manage the supplier base to ensure consistency with the sourcing strategy & product quality.
- Complete cycle of "Purchase to Pay" to be followed up to payment of vendors.
- Ensure commercial, legal, and contractual compliance all the procurement. transactions.
Languages:
Portuguese, English and Spanish required, written and spoken
Knowledge/Skills:
- Able to read and understand technical drawings
- Analytical skills - good knowledge of Microsoft programs, and data analysis including v-look ups and pivot tables
- Ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers
- Ability to project a positive and professional image on behalf of the organization, always promoting ethical procurement
Ability to solve problems independently, keen and able to use initiative and lead.
