Job Description
You will be responsible for leading, coordinating and supporting Squares Internationalization and Localization efforts while maintaining Squares ability to execute with high efficiency. You will collaborate with product managers, linguists, marketing teams, customer success teams, engineers, designers, and localization vendors to help bring Squares revolutionary product offerings to people around the world.
You Will:
Define, manage, and optimize Squares localization strategy and processes to deliver the suite of Square products to merchants and buyers around the world
Manage the Localization team of project managers and linguists; coach individuals on the team; decide ideal make-up/structure of localization team and execute
Facilitate schedules, operations, and communication amongst US and distributed international teams of PMs, marketers, customer success specialists, and translators/linguists
Be the ambassador for the Localization team across the whole company; represent the non-US countries and non-English languages
Maintain a high level of linguistic quality in all locales and languages where Square takes its products
Working with the internationalization engineering team to evaluate, create, implement, and maintain translation management tools
Manage single- and multi-language translation vendors to ensure high quality translations are delivered on tight timelines
Qualifications
You have:
8+ years of experience leading localization and internationalization efforts, preferably for a technology company
Expertise in the latest and greatest translation tools and strategies
Experience in complex project/program management with a focus on localization / translation
Experience managing and growing a team
Experience managing vendors and negotiating contracts
Excellent leadership skills - clear communicator, great cross-functional collaborator, passionate, driven, and can drive from strategy to execution while bringing others along
Creative problem solver - can come up with alternative options given constraints
Analytical - can help the team define metrics for success
Strong work ethic, attention to detail and consistent performance; deep regard for linguistic quality
Comfortable working with translation linguists, vendors, business leads, designers, and engineers
Ability to communicate effectively to executives and individual contributors in different geographies.
Desire to work in a highly dynamic and agile environment
Curious and proactive
Passion for Square and new technologies
Even Better:
Payments industry experience
Engineering or Computer Science degree
Non-English language proficiency is a plus (French, Spanish, and Japanese)
