Job Description
The Cash App Global Network Operations Team is responsible for building and managing a scalable payments ecosystem for a fast growing mobile payment app with multiple external and internal partners. Reporting to the Payment Optimization Lead, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that cost reporting for our payments platform is operationally excellent. You will lead data-driven conversations internally and externally to build compelling narratives and strategies to optimize costs and funds flow on our platform. You will be working collaboratively with our Finance, Data Science, and Engineering teams to ensure that transaction related costs are visible, measurable, and accurate, and that our internal and external funds flows have holistic monitoring and documentation. We’ll rely on you to advocate for a healthy payments ecosystem for our customers and our partners, finding new innovative solutions that position Cash App for future success and growth.
You will:
- Be the owner of Cash App’s payment acquiring cost optimization strategies and transaction cost reporting.
- Ensure the accuracy of cost data from our transactions and third party reports, partnering with Finance and Data Science to validate, build, and communicate analytical insights.
- Engage with our Strategic Partnerships team to drive external partners to resolve identified gaps, examine opportunities, and make recommendations to balance cost and payment performance and improve accountability.
- Enjoy getting into the weeds to deeply understand our systems and develop, prioritize, and execute a strategic roadmap.
- Design and monitor KPIs and reporting that capture deep insights on cost of payments and funds flow, including both industry standard reporting as well as Cash-specific metrics.
- Partner and collaborate internally across multiple stakeholders to scope, influence, and drive implementation of new payment ideas and opportunities.
- Be a proactive executor and have a bias to action, working autonomously and with our internal partners to jump into the details and problem solve.
Qualifications
You have:
- 8+ years of operations, finance, or product experience within payments and/or fintech, with management and mentorship experience as a plus.
- Strong understanding of the end-to-end payments ecosystem, including payment methods, card networks and rules, acquiring and processing, and the regulatory environment.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Finance, Data Science, Product and Engineering to identify, evaluate, and size opportunities in order to effectively prioritize work.
- Experience driving continuous improvement projects, where you’ve applied deep knowledge to uncover and execute both short and long term optimizations.
- Exposure to and experience working with multiple external partners in the payments supply chain.
- Strong business analytic skills, including the ability to use data to drive and influence business requirements.
- Excellent business acumen, communication skills, and self starting attitude.
- Familiarity with analytics platforms (Mode, Tableau, Looker), expert in a spreadsheet (Google Docs, Excel), and SQL skills greatly preferred.

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $184,100 - USD $225,000
Zone B: USD $174,900 - USD $213,700
Zone C: USD $165,700 - USD $202,500
Zone D: USD $156,400 - USD $191,200
