Job Description

We are looking for a seasoned engineering manager to lead product development for a new “0 => 1” artist tools initiative. In this role you will lead an engineering team responsible for delivering strategic and complex initiatives that seek to empower artists to succeed and grow their careers. You will collaborate closely with cross functional partners from product and design, deciding a strategy for these products, and partner with product marketing and analytics to bring them to market in a way that enables learning and iteration to further improve the experience and business outcomes. You will be expected to coordinate and manage dependencies between many different product engineering and platform teams in order to build and support your team's product. You will also be accountable on updating plans and progress with your stakeholders including getting upper management support.

You will join the product engineering team and be one of the engineering managers responsible for delivering TIDALs services to our customers. The role is remote-friendly and open to candidates in Europe CET and United States Eastern Time Zone. A flexibility in working hours is expected since the team is spread over multiple time zones.

You Will: 
Lead the engineering team:

  • Make sure the team has a sound and inclusive environment that fosters innovation and efficient deliveries of high quality product features  
  • Be a representative for your team and their systems
  • All aspects of people management of the engineering team
  • Continuous feedback to maximize opportunities and growth for the engineering team members

Accountable for the outcome of the team:

  • Facilitate roadmap scoping and identifying quarterly goals
  • Make sure the projects are divided into proper milestones, and that we account for an iterative development process that emphasizes learning through data
  • Drive execution and make sure that the team is operating effectively
  • Communicate project plans and status to the rest of the organization 
  • Make sure the teams systems are monitored and proper alerting mechanisms are in place

Collaborate effectively across the organization:

  • Collaborate with your cross-functional partners to achieve the best possible customer experience
  • Have a platform mindset to make sure that we identify and separate out reusable components
  • Facilitate a productive environment of collaboration and knowledge sharing across the entire engineering organization
     

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
  • Has 8+ years of relevant industry or additional academic experience
  • Has managed for 2+ years
  • Experience shipping and iterating on 0 => 1 or high-growth products that required partnering across multiple teams
  • Exceptional communication skills, both in written and verbal communication. Ability to convey complex technical topics to a variety of audiences
  • Experience working in cross-functional partnership with product and design, to define and build product strategy  
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with proven track record of driving and delivering products with emphasis on using data and experimentation through iteration to achieve the best possible solutions
  • A background as an a contributing engineer delivering customer facing solutions
  • Nice to Have: Experience building products in the music streaming, creator tools, or adjacent spaces

TIDAL's development teams are based in Oslo, Norway, but many of our new colleagues are remote - mostly from other European countries and the US. As a distributed team we have:
