Job Description

To structure, competitively price and risk manage transactions with limited guidance, to generate positive revenue and contribute towards the trading desk profit.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the interaction between sales and the trading desks in AR, and research to allow for conversation and bi-lateral learning that will allow for the integration of different views, insights, and strategies to come up with tradeable, opportunistic possibilities that can be presented to clients as value-added insights.
  • Adopt and apply a nimble mindset that allows for the integration of information from different sources to draw unique and value-adding conclusions that will guide sales, trading desks.
  • Analyse and interpret client data in AR through quantifiable financial modelling to identify opportunities and risks to offer differentiated value propositions to clients within a variety of target markets.
  • Working with Africa Strategist to Analyse, integrate, and share value-adding research to provide AR clients with insightful and relevant information.
  • Apply quantitative skills to analyze, critically evaluate, and interpret macro-economic indicators for the purpose of quantifying risks and providing insights to sales, trading desks, and research.
  • Build and sustain global stakeholder relationships by demonstrating sound business acumen and market awareness.
  • Catalyze conversation across all AR global markets and research to identify and discuss emerging markets and investable opportunities and risks.
  • Communicate and interact with cross-functional teams to influence and optimize overall performance and effectiveness across divisions and sub-divisions.
  • Communicate effectively while expressing complex trading, investment, sales, or financial strategies in an organized and eloquent manner to inform business decisions within global markets.
  • Communicate trading and business risks efficiently across global markets to optimize clients’ solutions and performance.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of financial risk management and how the identified risks affect product offerings and tailored solutions provided to clients.
  • Working with research and sales teams, directly communicate and liaise with policy makers to gain a deep understanding of possible investable opportunities or risks.
  • Drive fit-for-purpose products across the product lifecycle/value chain for the AR client base in line with overall SBG strategy and changing macro-economic market needs to ensure financial viability, sensible risk management, and to remain competitive across the trading footprint/geographies.
  • Engage in and guide discussions with sales, trading desks, and research to break down the existing silos and barriers across and within each business
  • Engage with all the different trading and sales desks in AR to build close relationships that allow for discussions and bi-lateral transfer of learning related but not limited to trading views, insights, directionality of the market, and possible investable opportunities.
  • Engage with key global stakeholders including policy makers, ministers, corporates, and investors to communicate and present new concepts and ideas to enhance global trading opportunities.
  • Retain knowledge and understanding of rules, regulations and mandates for our investor client base in all relevant markets
  • Support AR and International sales in client interaction and analysing and interpreting client feedback to provide a fit-for-purpose trading mix and product offering that is in line with client needs.
  • Understand the broad macro-economic environment to produce market analyses and trade ideas on a regular basis while also monitoring news that is relevant to the global market trading desks and client franchise.
  • Understand the nature, impact, and value-add of all trading desks’ product offerings across the different regional jurisdictions to provide products that benefit both SB trading and client risk appetite.
  • Evaluate and interpret large datasets in a quantitative manner to draw conclusions and obtain insights that will guide the strategies and decision making of research, sales, and trading desks within the global market. 
  • Influence cross-functional departments such as sales, trading desks, and research to deliver client-centric solutions to secure and retain strategic partnerships.
  • Interpret the implementation of policies and regulations and communicate how it affects the macro-economic environment and global market in which SBG in AR and its clients operate.

  • Seasoned derivatives experience and the ability to understand quantitative models, to aggregate and analyse multiple sources of risk.
