Job Description
The purpose of this role, is to integrate strategic development initiatives, projects and capabilities through successful relationship management in order to promote client, financial and commercial outcomes across the Office of the CEO. This in order to strengthen business relations between the Africa China corridor, focusing on the relationship between Standard Bank Group (SBG) and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC).
The role requirements would include the following key aspects :
- Act as a key liaison for China regional and executive leadership for all programs related to the ICBC portfolio in China, ensuring smooth communications between stakeholders.
- Act as an advisor and supplement thought leadership insights with internal research and risk reports, media coverage, and national and regional developments in the relevant countries to improve project relations with stakeholders.
- Be a business development thought leader and cultivate further opportunities for the Bank to achieve its goals. This includes active external engagement with, for example, multilateral organizations, other national development banks, other Standard Bank Group departments, financial institutions, etc. to positively influence the thinking of strategic partners.
Qualifications
- Degree in Business Commerce
- Must be fluent in Mandarin and have a demonstrated understanding of the China business landscape (Non Negotiable)
- Minimum 10 years extensive experience in working in a major Chinese bank (experience from the ICBC and other equivalent Chinese banks, will be highly valued & preferred)
- Minimum 10 years experience working on Sub-Saharan African opportunities / transactions, as well as engaging with stakeholders at an Executive level. Seasoned experience in African markets will be highly valued; together with a solid track record of working with Chinese clients focusing on deal opportunities across the African continent.
- Must be a seasoned and natural influencer, with the ability to develop working relationships with both teams and individuals, and to cultivate and maintain a strong team dynamic.
- The successful incumbent must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to build, maintain and strengthen reciprocal and authentic working relationships, comfortably leading teams of senior bankers across sectors and geographic regions in an executive leadership capacity.
