Summer Internship Program 2025 – Model Development in Water, Weather and Climate [MEWM] is Looking for Passionate Students!

About the Model Development team

Our team develops the water resource forecasts, and climatological weather datasets used for market analysis and production planning for Statkraft renewable power production. Your work will revolve around improving these forecasts.

You’ll be part of a team that combines expertise, experience, and innovation to drive the development of renewable energy.

As a summer intern with us, you’ll:

  • Gain valuable work experience in modelling geoscience problems, data science, data analysis and renewable energy markets.

Examples of Tasks You Might Work On

Depending on the needs of the department and your interests, you may work on:

  • Testing and quality assuring different hydrological and meteorological input datasets and assess their ability to improve our deliverables.
  • Test different model improvements: Model setups, calibration strategies.
  • Machine learning applications for short term hydrological forecasting.

Tasks will be tailored to ensure you work on areas that excite and engage you the most!

Who Are We Looking For?

We are looking for students who:

  • Are passionate about renewable energy and sustainable solutions.
  • Have strong analytical skills and a structured, detail-oriented approach to work.
  • Are motivated, proactive, and enjoy working in teams.
  • Are studying information science, geoscience, physics, mathematics, statistics, engineering
  • Are currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree.

Practical Information

  • Duration: Mid-June to mid-August 2025. The program includes two weeks of vacation. (9th/16th of June until 8th/15th of august. Vacation 14th-25th of July)
  • Location: Lilleaker, Oslo
  • Final Presentation: The program concludes with interns presenting their work to management and colleagues (in English).
