Job Description

The business area European Wind Solar & Grid (E) is responsible for the development and ownership of wind, solar and grid assets in Europe. This business area also oversees the project execution of large projects in Statkraft across various energy technologies, the group procurement function and new business opportunities.

The HSS Department manages HSS during all phases of project execution and develops and implements HSS practices across all activities within the business area.

We are experiencing unprecedented growth and require a Senior HSS Advisor in Ireland & Northern Ireland to strengthen the HSS team, advise the Project team on all aspects of HSS and offer assistance where required to successfully deliver projects and maintain and improve HSS standards. The role will report to the Country HSS Manager.

This role will require travel to various sites in Ireland & Northern Ireland.

  • Advise project managers on HSS matters from development to operations handover.
  • Provide HSS advice, guidance to management, safety representatives, employees, subcontractors, suppliers and visitors.
  • Foster a strong HSS culture within projects, including kick-offs.
  • Report on HSS risks, KPIs, and trends, recommending improvements.
  • Produce EPC HSS Management Plans and related documents per corporate standards.
  • Review HSS documentation from subcontractors.
  • Conduct internal audits and site inspections, recommending and documenting improvements.
  • Ensure contractors implement the approved HSS management plan.
  • Report events and dangerous occurrences, ensuring thorough investigations.
  • Attend HSS coordination and site meetings.
  • Prepare monthly KPI reports for HSS and Business Unit Managers.
  • Manage site start-up meetings with contractors.
  • Complete HSS onboarding for new contractors.
  • Prepare and roll out monthly HSS campaigns across projects.
  • Visit development projects, preparing access protocols and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate with PSDP/PD, OE, and PSCS/PC across projects.
  • Ensure compliance with safety file requirements before project handover.
  • Implement and promote the company incentive scheme on projects.

Qualifications

  • Degree/higher Diploma in safety or equivalent qualification
  • Relevant experience within HSS in the construction industry
  • Detailed knowledge of Irish HSS Legislations and the Construction Regulations. Experience in UK Legislation & CDM Regs is desirable
  • Experience with HSS Management Systems
  • Experience working on large-scale energy projects
  • Previous experience in HV projects (i.e., substations and/or transmission lines).
  • IT skills including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to prepare audits and HSS reports to a high standard
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to work on own initiative
  • A team player who can drive HSS improvement work
  • Flexibility to travel is a requirement of this role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
