Job Description

Reporting to the Communications and IT Director, the responsibility of the Graphic Designer is to render digital artwork for the purposes of communications.  The position consists of the creation of print and online media including web pages, logos, flyers, business cards, posters and other media to these ends.


 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1)      Generate graphics, mostly through computer graphics software, suitable for print to promote the Students’ Society;

2)         Coordinate deadlines for artistic media creation with the Executive or the Communications and Publications Manager;

3)      Work in close contact with Executive or Communications and Publications Manager or appropriate parties to develop, refine and finalize artwork for the Students’ Society;

4)      Assist SSMU clubs and services with their print graphics needs if time allows;

5)      Interface, if necessary, with printers regarding requirements and artwork submission for print.

6)      Generate graphics suitable for the web or email to promote the Students’ Society;

7)      Assist SSMU clubs and services with their print graphics needs if time allows;

8)      Work in close contact with Executive or the Communications and Publications Manager or appropriate parties to develop, refine and finalize artwork for the club SSMU website and the related websites of the Executive as needed.

Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator);
  • Experience with Wordpress blogging and social media platforms;
  • Knowledge of the SSMU website, SSMU mandates and SSMU events and activities.
  • Well-organized, highly-motivated open-source to work on new and existing projects.
  • Graphics and layout experience is an asset.
  • Required skills: Dedication and persistence to learn new things, A passion for a creative presentation of information, and Experience working with Adobe Photoshop and similar layout programs.
  • Integrity, good planning skills, interpersonal skills, high degree of organization skills.
  • Good communication skills both in English and French desirable.
