Job Description
We are looking for candidates to submit their expression of interest to register in our Temp Pool for temporary Student Support roles across the University.
The length of agreement could be for 4 weeks or a couple of months in length with both full and part-time hours, depending on the reason for the temp request.
Dependent on the role, tasks of a temp can include:
- Respond to queries both internally and externally
- Support Postgraduate and International students
- Provide specific assistance to students studying in New Zealand and remotely
- Provide wellbeing, pastoral care and learning support
- Help identify students at risk as well as high achieving students
- Assist with student enrolment, visa enquires
- Assist in creating, implementing, and reviewing support plans
- Handle and ensure that complaints and referrals are dealt with in a confidential, sensitive, and appropriate manner
- Assist in planning and effectively undertaking responsive student recruitment activities (expos, and other events);
- Assist Student Support team with administration tasks

Our ideal candidate understands what a student needs and has the energy to locate the right contact, department, or guidance material that will help them do what they have set out to do. We are looking for someone who is/has :
- adaptable, confident, friendly, and engaging
- experience in the delivery of academic and pastoral support
- experience working in an environment requiring high levels of customer service delivery
- experience and understanding of equity issues in New Zealand
- experience using multiple systems, like Moodle
- experience with timetabling and scheduling will be a plus
- demonstrated problem-solving ability
- experience working with several key stakeholders
- strong written and verbal communication skills
- demonstrated ability to maintain high ethical standards and commitment to confidentiality
- highly developed interpersonal skills including the ability to deal with sensitive matters
- availability for meetings in person and via video calls
