Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
We are looking for a Communications & Marketing Manager to lead in the execution of our Law Faculty’s campaigns, marketing content in print and digital media, events (working with our event planner) and promotional activities. Your role will mostly be externally focused, but you will have some responsibilities involving internal communications.
This is the perfect next step for an experienced Marketing Adviser or Senior Adviser who is ready to take their marketing career to the next level of responsibility. You will work operationally whilst managing a Marketing Coordinator and connecting with senior members of staff across our faculty and the wider university.
If you enjoy creating a variety of content both in print and digital mediums, and you are looking to manage a wide spectrum of projects by rolling up your sleeves and getting things done in a fast-paced calendar driven environment, this may be the perfect job for you!
This role will see you lead in communicating about and promoting Auckland Law School to prospective and current students, members of the legal profession, other law schools and universities, as well as the general public.
Key responsibilities include:
- You will be responsible for the development and implementation of faculty marketing and student recruitment plans through promotions, event management and internal and external communications.
- Manage the implementation of the University of Auckland brand across all faculty specific marketing collateral (digital and print).
- Oversee the production of the faculty’s marketing materials and other material collateral, including copywriting, print management and ensuring compliance with the University style guide and other policies.
- Oversee all faculty event management planning. Ensuring they are in line with the strategic plan of the faculty.
- Oversee the management and development of the faculty web pages, including multimedia and social media.
- Assisting with developing and implementing strategies and initiatives to market Auckland Law School’s programmes both within Aotearoa and internationally.
- Working closely with the Dean to align marketing plans and communication policies with the Law School’s strategic plans through Faculty-specific promotions, event management and internal and external communications activities.
- Liaise closely with our Central Marketing and Communications team to ensure material aligns with the University’s style guides.

Your application will stand out if you are someone with energy, who is good at relationship building and prepared to make a difference with your planning and organisational skills, your professional manner and your hands-on team-oriented approach.
We’re seeking a candidate who is innovative and passionate, ready to take on a role as a people manager whilst still being heavily involved in the day-to-day operations.
You will have experience in copywriting, proofing and editing a range of mediums, including traditional print, web pages, digital campaigns and social media. You will also be comfortable connecting with a variety of senior leaders whilst taking on a wide spectrum of work.
Ideally, you will have direct marketing and campaign management experience and an understanding of SEO, AdWords and web analytical tools and reporting methods.
Skills and experience:
- Hold a tertiary qualification in marketing, communications or similar.
- Established Marketing Adviser background from either an internal business or agency with experience of campaign management being desirable.
- Ability to coordinate campaigns with external and internal stakeholders.
- Able to manage print projects end to end.
- Proven Google analytics expertise, and marketing tech experience, preferably with a marketing automation tool.
- Must be able to show innovation and strive for continuous improvement. This includes being perceptive to how processes could be improved, and not being afraid to question the status quo and implement changes.
