Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

The Faculty of Creative Arts and Industries is looking for an experienced and motivated Student Development & Engagement Manager to join their team on a full-time (37.5 hours), 12-month fixed term basis (maternity leave cover).

This is a great opportunity for a confident and organised leader to develop and manage student development and engagement strategies and initiatives to support students throughout the student lifecycle.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Provide the Student Development & Engagement team with clear direction and expectations for the achievement of their agreed objectives
  • Lead and further develop strategies for pastoral care, peer mentoring and wellbeing initiatives for all students
  • Provide direction and leadership for the development of student services to assist academic progress and integration of students
  • Engage in activities, projects and initiatives that promote and support equity
  • Develop new initiatives to improve the student experience
  • Oversee transition and pathway programmes

This position reports directly to the Director of Faculty Operation.

The salary range is between $89,400 - 110,400 based on experience and qualifications.

To be considered for this position, our ideal candidate will bring:

  • Experience working with students in a tertiary environment
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in team building, change management and working cooperatively
  • Experience and understanding of equity issues in New Zealand especially with relation to Māori and Pacific students
  • Experience and understanding of responsibilities under Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Proven leadership and management experience in a large complex organisation
  • Experience developing and implementing processes and systems
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant tertiary qualification
