Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager for a 12-month contract.

As a contractor, you will be picking up a range of projects at different life stages.  The projects you will be working on have big impacts on their users, from our security guards to our student doctors and our general staff and students.  Your work will ensure our staff and students have a positive and easy IT experience at the University.    

In this role, you will work closely with Product Owners and you will bring excellent stakeholder management skills as you will work closely with vendors, non-technical staff, technical staff, senior leaders and operational users to ensure the project's success.  

You will manage laid-out project plans, manage risks as they arise, track milestones and report on the project progress to senior leaders.      

Your financial acumen and budgeting skills will be second to none, as you will manage multiple project budgets ranging from $200K to $700K.

  • IT System for Administration and Customer Experience 
  • Replacement of a Security Incident Response system
  • IT solution managing student allocation and practicum placements
  • An Integrated Student Data Service

Besides working on projects with big impacts, you will work with passionate teams across the University.  We also offer flexible working with the option to work from home and onsite.  This role will be based at our Newmarket Campus.

We looking for contractors with the following experience:

  • A relevant industry-related tertiary qualification and/or bring project management experience in technology projects
  • Financial acumen in managing budgets, forecasts and time/resource management
  • Business case development, vendor selection and  management
  • Experience using both waterfall and agile methodologies
  • A confident communicator, able to influence and communicate effectively to various stakeholders.
  • The drive and energy to lead from the front and take stakeholders and project teams on the journey to a successful outcome
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment whilst effectively managing your own workload.
