Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

The University of Auckland is hiring a research fellow (post-doc) in biomedical optics/biophotonics. The position is focused on developing an imaging platform combining optical coherence tomography (OCT) and vibrational spectroscopy to measure soft tissue under mechanical stress. The successful candidate will work with a diverse transdisciplinary team to design, build and calibrate the platform. They will then use the platform to design and perform appropriate experiments on cartilage samples and look for opportunities to apply to clinical practice.

The position supports a well-funded research programme through two major grants with collaborators from the Faculties of Science, Engineering and Medical and Health Science at the University of Auckland and the University of Adelaide. The Biophotonics Laboratory in the Faculty of Science is well equipped with state-of-the-art OCT and spectroscopy systems. We seek applicants with excellent collaborative skills, the ability to effectively mentor students, and who can contribute to an environment that supports equity and inclusion.

The starting salary for this role is $86,980 - $89,800 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This role is Full Time, 40 hours per week, and fixed term for 24 months.
