Job Description

The late Professor Emeritus Brian Coote generously bequeathed the largest gift by a staff member to the University of Auckland Waipapa Taumata Rau. Part of his legacy is to establish the Coote Chair in Private Law. We are seeking to appoint an outstanding scholar with excellent interpersonal skills who will make a significant contribution to their sub-discipline of Private Law, as well as the academic and broader community across New Zealand and internationally. Applications are welcomed from those with expertise in any area of Private Law, including company, competition, corporate, commercial, property, contract, landlord/tenancy, torts, trusts, equity, labour, family, or consumer law.

Candidates will demonstrate personal credibility and exceptional communication skills. The Chair provides academic leadership in the Auckland Law School Te Wāhanga Ture, with the opportunity to engage and collaborate in research and teaching with our colleagues across the University, including those in the Business School with whom there are existing strong relationships.

The Faculty of Law’s degree programmes are taught by some of New Zealand's leading scholars. The Faculty has outstanding students and very supportive alumni.
