We are seeking a Business Analyst – Insights to join our central Planning and Information Office (PIO). This is a new position which is designed to service the Reporting / Insights and Dashboard needs of the HOD’s and Faulty Managers.
Supported by a team of Data Analyst this role is an external facing Business Analyst who represents the Planning and Information department and gathers requirements from Faculty, Operation Managers and HOD to determine their reporting needs, create Dashboards / Insights and story-tell the findings.
You will use your experience as an analyst to advise our stakeholders about the information available through data and our Analytics platform and its associated reporting tool, across the breadth of information domains.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable consulting with stakeholders to understand their needs and goals before putting together a plan of action, diving into the data to provide guidance and then developing dashboards and presentations which can then be used to make important strategic decisions.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Deliver excellent customer service through reliable communications, speedy service and thoughtful consultation.
- Provide support, information, and actionable insights to leadership teams.
- In conjunction with other technical teams, develop information sets, dashboards, and analyses across information domains.
- Analyze operational and other processes to identify opportunities to improve data management, quality, and reporting outcomes.

- Excellence in working with stakeholders to understand business context and provide interpretation of reporting in the form of actionable insights
- Demonstrated experience utilising analytics and reporting methodologies to identify and communicate areas of concern or improvements opportunities to diverse stakeholders
- Ability to bridge the gap between solution experts like technology-centered Business Intelligence teams or Data Science teams and the key stakeholders whose information needs are critical to value generation
- Experience in data visualisation using business intelligence tools.
About the team | Mō tō mātou rōpū
The Planning and Information Office (PIO) is the unit within the University that leads and coordinates strategic and operational planning for the University. This is achieved by providing a range of information, support and advice, including the provision of strategic, tactical and operational information; monitoring and assessing the institution’s performance; coordinating the planning process and developing; data science, data governance and maintaining the University’s repositories of business information.
Qualifications
Relevant bachelor’s level qualification or work experience.
