Job Description

The Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for repairing and maintaining industrial manufacturing machinery. This role ensures all machines function properly through preventive maintenance service and troubleshooting support. As well as participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide support to kaizen teams.

This role will interface closely with external vendors and internal departments, including health and safety, engineering, supply chain management, and production.

Preventive Maintenance:

  • Installs, repairs, and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance.
  • Dismantles machinery and removes/replaces defective parts.
  • Performs inspection and measurement with various instruments for part wear and fitment.
  • Maintains inventories of equipment parts and supplies by checking stock and placing orders.
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains a safe and organized shop environment by complying with procedures.
  • Validates that machinery is in a ready state before coordinating with manufacturing to resume production.

Troubleshooting and Repair:

  • Tests electric circuits using a Volt-Ohmmeter, tracing both signal and operation. 
  • Proposes sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation.
  • Maintains parts, tools, drawings, and other resources required to facilitate safe and timely repairs.
  • Reassembles machines and equipment following repair, testing operation, and adjusting as necessary.
  • Conducts routine maintenance and safety checks.
  • Communicates with the production team and maintains a clean work area.
  • Validates that machinery is in a ready state before coordinating with manufacturing to resume production.

Qualifications

A lot of enthusiasm, passion, and excitement for what we do at Suterra. The ability to interface with a number of cross-functional teams and represent the engineering function as needed.

As well as:

  • One to three years of experience in an industrial plant setting.
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical systems maintenance.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and regulations.
  • Troubleshooting skills.
  • Time-management skills.
  • Ability to use and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Computer, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Enthusiasm for teamwork across multiple functions of the organization.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software desired, SolidWorks or Autodesk Fusion 360 preferred.
