Community Care Center is a large inner-city skilled nursing (medical) facility.  We have multiple levels of care, including the older adult long term care and a large behavioral health (psych) population.   

  • Along with our medical patients, the most common diagnoses of the rest of our population is schizophrenia, bi-polar and major depressive disorders.

Job Description

What you will do in this role:  Officially we title this job a Building Maintenance Assistant, but in other centers it may be called a Handyman or Facilities or Property Maintenance Technician.

 As a Maintenance Tech you will help keep our building safe and functional for our patients.  This could involve unclogging a toilet, changing a light bulb, fixing the mini blinds or just replacing the batteries in the TV remote.  One day you may go to the roof to change an HVAC filter or the next it may involve patching a hole in the drywall.  This is an in-house building or facilities maintenance position and we attempt to address all necessary minor repairs internally rather than calling an external vendor.

Qualifications

Maintenance Tech:  officially we title this job a Building Maintenance Technician, but in other centers it may be called a Handyman, Building Maintenance Assistant or Facilities / Property Maintenance Assistant.

What we need from you:

  • You should have hands-on experience with minor Electrical, Plumbing and HVAC repair and servicing needs.
  • You should be familiar with (and able to repair) equipment, such as:  PTAC units, Fire Alarms (systems), minor electrical & Nurse call light systems and Phones systems is ideal
  • Prior experience in a similarly titled position in a medical setting is preferable but not required
  • Experienced with IDPH survey requirements would be helpful
  • Must have excellent communication skills, written & verbal, to be able to interact with our employees and guests in the facility
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and criminal history background check

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This is a physically demanding position that will involve frequently lifting and carrying objects of 50+ pounds.
