Job Description

Project Controls professional with a passion for excellence. We are seeking an experienced Project Controls Cost Engineer. The position is located in Greenville, NC. The Ideal candidate will have excellent working experience in the pharmaceutical and/or high-tech manufacturing industry (strong preference toward candidates with biotech/pharma experience).

As a Project Controls Specialist who provides Cost Engineer Services, you are responsible for developing and managing all aspects of cost management to support the capital projects for our client.  You will be working to develop procedures and managing and support the execution of ongoing capital work.  You will be working closely with scheduling, project management, manufacturing, validation and procurement groups. You must also be highly detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities. 

 Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Manage project cost reports including the evaluation of actual and forecasted costs against budgets and detailed analysis supporting the same
  • Assist in the development of project control procedures and solutions for capital project delivery.
  • Develop accruals and forecast reports for the projects including detailed management reports at a minimum monthly.
  • Coordinate earned value analysis, audits, invoice / pay application reviews of select client vendors and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate the development of Project estimates alone or with engineering and/or construction management firm of client.
  • Assist with the performance of value-engineering analysis
  • Assist with development, issuance and evaluation of RFP’s.
  • Assist with project related contract negotiations, interfacing with the vendors and legal, as needed.
  • Update internal standards for financial project cost controls and ensure contractor compliance with same 
  • Provides high level project updates to, and may work directly with, senior management.  Also provides more detailed daily or weekly updates, as required.
  • Coordinate and procedural interface between Project Management and Procurement, PM and Finance
  • Work with Project Managers and other internal stakeholders (such as Engineering, Validation, Manufacturing, Facilities, Quality, etc.) to provide unified, cost-driven solutions, identify potential conflicts, and assist in the facilitation of making critical commercial decisions. 

Qualifications

Technical Requirements

Competency using Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Additional experience in SAP desired.  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field)
  • 5-10 years of project controls cost engineer experience
  • Direct experience working on teams within a complex matrix environment
  • Experience within the construction industry is a must, candidates with additional life sciences experience strongly preferred
  • Local candidates preferred, if not local, must be relocatable (relocation assistance provided)
  • Must possess exemplary communication skills - both oral and written
