Job Description
Pay Rate: $125000 to $130000 per year.

Position Purpose:
The Manager of Planning & Scheduling is responsible for the development, implementation, and updating of the NJ Division Workforce Management strategy, policies and programs in accordance with Veolia and/or industry standards. The role for overseeing and optimizing the planning and scheduling of field personnel and resources to ensure efficient operations, timely project completion, and maximum productivity. This role requires strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills to effectively manage a team of planners and schedulers while coordinating with various departments and field teams.
Responsible for the development, lead and implementation of workforce management practices and oversight of methods of work order generation for dispatching personnel for preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance, and customer issues.
Periodically this position will also be required to work closely with the Director of External Affairs to support the Company’s growth objectives and municipal relationships, affecting the ability to plan and execute necessary preventative, reactive, and customer-related work orders. These duties include participation on due diligence teams and efforts and support for development of recommendations to drive decisions on growth and system sustainability objectives.
This position will work collaboratively to develop and implement policies and programs to improve business performance based on operations long-term needs and business goals, while seeking to improve service efficiency and effectiveness. Spearheading the enhancement and modernization of processes, tools and guidelines to improve planning and workforce management.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lead the Operations Support Department in the development, implementation and management of the NJ Division Workforce Management strategy, policies and programs.
- Develop and implement effective planning and scheduling strategies for field personnel and resources across multiple projects and locations.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of master schedules, resource allocation plans, and work breakdown structures.
- Collaborate with project managers, operations teams, and other stakeholders to align schedules with project goals and objectives.
- Analyze resource utilization, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize workforce efficiency.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to scheduling and resource management.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards in all scheduling activities.
- Manage and mentor a team of planners and schedulers, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and performance.
- Work with External Affairs and Legal to identify positions of concerns and opportunities for Veolia Workforce Management initiatives to gain efficiencies and cost savings.
- Conduct regular meetings with field supervisors and project managers to review schedules, address issues, and make necessary adjustments.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to facilitate smooth scheduling and resource allocation.
- Participate in the budgeting process by providing accurate forecasts of labor and resource requirements.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in planning and scheduling to continuously improve processes.
- Provide network engineering support for the Operations team.
- Part of T&D Emergency Supervisor Rotation
- Successfully foster highly effective and collaborative cross-functional relationships. Create a team-oriented atmosphere.
Work Environment:
- Periodic travel as needed to support workforce management as well as growth initiatives.
- Based in Hackensack, NJ but must be able to travel within the NJ Region as necessary.
- Must be able to travel and work away from base, as and when required.
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 7-10+ years of experience in planning and scheduling, preferably in a field service or construction environment.
- 3+ years of management experience leading a team of planners and schedulers.
- Experience with ERP systems and data analysis tools is a plus.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and best practices in planning and scheduling.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Employee must be able to work eight hours a day at a desk performing routine analyses and reporting.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of teams of various sizes and compositions.
Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
- Must have and maintain a full clean driving license.
