Job Description
Under direction of the Project Manager, the Senior Plant Engineer will be primarily responsible for supporting the project team on identifying, analyzing and resolving technical issues with the plant.
Main Responsibilities:
- Gain deep understanding of all plant processes (AD, MBR, etc.), operations, equipment (centrifuges, presses, compressors, pumps, etc.), technologies and facility drawings to:
- Identify aries where the plant deviated from design and provide reporting
- Produce relevant operational documents
- Support the develop operational expertise of the team
- Optimize the performance of the plant
- Assess plant to produce redline drawings
- Plan, document, direct special projects finalized to the identification, assessment and rectification/improvement of technical issues with the plant.
- Collaborate with the maintenance manager and maintenance team to ensure all required proactive and corrective maintenance are carried out in a timely manner.
- Prepare specific technical reports for the attention of the Plant Manager;
- Lead troubleshooting activities on the plant when it is not operating at the expected level
- Recommend process optimization
- Is responsible for leading the Management of Change (MoC) processes
- Review plant operational and laboratory data and provide expertise to support the team in troubleshooting any process related issues and in improving the plant operations.
- Provide regular reporting on performance of plants including weekly, monthly and yearly reports as required.
- Collaborate and share information and expertise with the broader Veolia team in Ontario and Canada.
- Promotes safety practices and procedures by training employees, reporting on unsafe conditions and by filing reports on injuries.
- Promotes and build a safety culture
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree required in Environmental, Biological, or Chemical Engineering or related field. Master’s degree preferred
- Ten (10 +) years related experience
- Strong mathematics, data analysis and process control skills
- Excellent management and organizational skills are required
- Ability to operate within a team atmosphere
- Ability to shift priorities frequently and effectively perform under pressure
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to operate specialized softwares
- Must have strong communication skills both orally and written
- Experience with process controls engineering, automation (SCADA and PLC) and controls systems engineering/programming a plus
Work Environment:
Temporary 6 months position, with possibility of extension. Full-time position offered, with a regular 40hrs work week. Incumbent is expected to be flexible according to operational needs.
