Job Description

Our Strategy team at Visa sets our corporate direction.  They are the researchers, big thinkers and subject matter experts who tackle our biggest questions – How is the market evolving? What are the trends in competitors and regulation? How should we accelerate growth by capitalizing on our competitive
advantage? Join one of our extraordinary strategy teams this Summer:

Payments Economics Strategy: This division is responsible for balancing a complex, heavily regulated, ecosystem through client-to-client fee setting and management. They are responsible for understanding the unique needs of all the players in the payments space (banks, merchants, cardholders) and laying the groundwork for industry-accepted standards.

Business Planning: This division is responsible for setting and operationalizing annual and multi-year business and investment strategies for Europe. They put in place performance benchmarking, reporting
and tracking so that we understand where we’re headed and how we’re doing. They help build internal capabilities to accelerate innovation and build partnerships to pull our growth levers to achieve business priorities.

Our Global Risk department ensures the safe and secure growth of the Visa ecosystem as it innovates and expands to new markets. Global Risk teams manage the strategic and operational implications of Visa’s suite of products and services, optimizing the company’s long-term growth.


Some projects our strategy and risk interns may work on include:

  • Collate and analyze strategic, financial and operational data to help quantify the potential risks related to alternatives of a business decision. 
  • Track key business performance indicators to ensure strategic plans are on track.
  • Research and identify trends associated with emerging risks to credit card security like cybercrime and fraud and build outreach strategies to merchants to help them mitigate these risks.
  • Investigate data compromises involving payment card data and perform fraud performance benchmarking for top issuers, acquirers, and merchants







Qualifications

So what are we looking for in our Strategy & Risk interns?

  • Students graduating in 2019 or later
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Maths, Stats, Finance, Public Policy or a related analytical discipline
  • The ability to ranslate dense research and data into a digestible story and recommendation
  • Strong quantitative and analytical depth
  • Financial accumen with business case modeling experience
  • Superior communication skills (written and vebal)
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
