Job Description
Visa Technology & Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Staff Systems Engineer (multiple openings) in Highlands Ranch, CO to
- Provide timely and effective support and escalation for z/OS databases and associated products in the production and development environments at all Visa Data Centers.
- Extend support to all users of those systems. Provide database administration and support for all of Visa's mainframe Db2 databases.
- Manage the Db2 database change activity across all production and development z/OS systems.
- Responsible for driving service–impacting database issues and problems to resolution.
- Responsible for participating in the development and assessments of Visa's overall z/OS database strategies, technologies and architectures to meet the operational and continuity needs of Visa and its customers.
- Provide z/OS database-related guidance and training to both internal and external audiences.
- Perform and/or coordinate installations and upgrades to the z/OS database and tools.
- Evaluate and participate in selecting z/OS database administration tools to improve the effectiveness (i.e. timeliness, quality, etc.) of tasks such as performance monitoring and tuning, recovery processing, and change management processing.
- Provide 24x7 support for z/OS Db2 databases and Db2-related applications.
- Provide technical guidance to internal contacts in the design of infrastructure solutions that meet business needs and perform to engineered specifications.
- Identify, define and implement improvements to the z/OS database environments and related support activities and practices.
- Provide proactive analysis of Visa complex core systems and applications to detect potential problems and make preventive corrections.
- Provide database administration support to application teams including consulting and QA review services.
- Support the production implementation of mainframe applications including the development and implementation of backup and recovery strategies.
- Develop and/or provide training for database access strategies and SQL coding.
- Develop, promote and support data management concepts and processes.
- Conduct quarterly Db2 database TSR reviews and support production database TSR remediation activities.
- Position reports to the Highlands Ranch, Colorado office and may allow for partial telecommuting.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Electronics Engineering or related field, followed by 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a computer -related occupation.
- Position requires experience in the following:
- Knowledge of z/OS mainframe systems and Db2 database configurations;
- Providing administration and support for IBM's mainframe Db2 database environments;
- Performing system changes to Db2 database environments and applying application changes to those environments;
- Performing installs and upgrades for Db2 database-related software tools;
- Driving Db2 database and application problems to their resolution; and
- Contributing to the design of Db2 infrastructure solutions to meet business needs.
Additional Information
Worksite: Highlands Ranch, CO
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Travel Requirements: This position does not require travel.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $134,826.00 USD to $179,900.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for an annual bonus and equity.
