Job Description

This role is part of Visa's North America Controllership team, responsible for the accounting and finance operations of North America's corporate accounting activities, and integrated into the broader Global Controllership function within Global Finance. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced accounting professional looking to advance their career. The ideal candidate will effectively execute in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving business environment and possess the flexibility to thrive at an innovative company. This role will be integral to the corporate accounting team, driving the close and consolidation process with a focus on continuous improvement to achieve best-in-class results.

As the Accounting Manager, you will play a key leadership role in the Controllership organization, focusing on close-the-books process improvement, system optimization projects, scaling accounting infrastructures, standardizing processes globally, and mentoring the accounting team. Responsibilities include managing the month-end close process, conducting analytical reviews, and researching technical and operational accounting issues. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with US GAAP and SOX 404 requirements. Additionally, you will lead process improvements for the close-the-books process, spearhead system optimization projects, scale accounting infrastructures, and standardize accounting processes globally.

The Accounting Manager will work cross-functionally with various departments to support and enhance financial operations, playing a key leadership role in the Controllership organization. Essential Functions

  • Lead monthly close processes for the North American region and global consolidation, including but not limited to preparing and reviewing journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and overseeing consolidation activities such as intercompany transactions and elimination, foreign currency remeasurement, translation, and cost allocations.
  • Review US GAAP consolidated financial statements and perform flux analysis for North America and global consolidated income statements, balance sheets, statements of cash flows, and stockholders’ equity to ensure all results are fully reconciled and analyzed in a timely manner.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reporting packages to support SEC filings, as well as monthly and quarterly reporting packages for management and other periodic reporting as needed.
  • Oversee master data maintenance activities, including chart of accounts and department structures.
  • Serve as a primary interface with the company's external auditors and coordinate the execution of quarterly and annual audits.
  • Build and maintain a best-in-class internal control environment at scale, ensuring process documentation and SOX 404 compliance for areas of responsibility.
  • Seek opportunities to streamline and shorten the close and reporting cycle by identifying and recommending process and system enhancements. Proactively optimize systems, upgrades, and automation of accounting processes while maintaining effective internal controls. Collaborate on workflow design with key Finance partners to develop processes, policies, systems, controls, and compliance, implementing best-in-class global close processes.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to resolve queries and issues.
  • Lead special projects, identify potential financial-related risk areas, and provide sound recommendations and solutions to mitigate identified risks.
  • Prepare ad-hoc analyses and special projects as requested.

Qualifications

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 6 or more years of relevant work experience, or an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD) with at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • CPA or equivalent certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, with a focus on general accounting, global multi-currency consolidations, intercompany transactions, foreign currency accounting, legal entity management, and financial reporting.
  • Clear progressive professional accounting experience, preferably in a publicly traded company and/or with a public accounting firm.
  • Strong accounting, quantitative, and analytical skills, with the ability to accurately apply key U.S. GAAP to various business situations.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is a must.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written, oral, listening, and presentational abilities. Ability to work well under pressure and interact at all levels is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving process improvement.
  • Ability to build teams, foster strong cross-functional relationships, and work collaboratively.
  • Proficient with Oracle or similar enterprise accounting systems.
  • Experience with Hyperion, SmartView is a plus.
  • Outstanding oral communication, analytical, and written skills.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment, with the expectation of increasing responsibility and scope over time as proficiency in the position develops.
  • Welcomes challenging and complex projects, demonstrating an ability to work smarter not harder by continuously improving the efficiency of processes.
  • Strong team player who collaborates well with others to solve problems, actively incorporates input from various sources, and has experience working with global teams.
  • Adapts quickly to changes in a dynamic organizational structure and business processes.
  • Background in continuous improvement methodologies, driving increases in efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley internal control compliance.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks, possessing good organizational, communication, and analytical skills, able to work independently, and extremely flexible.
  • Proactive, self-starter who is accountable and exhibits ownership of delegated tasks and projects.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 124,600.00 to 180,650.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
