Job Description
WT in Cairns is expanding and in line with this, a new role has been created to help spearhead the continued growth of operations in Far North Queensland.
With a broad range of major projects secured in the pipeline, this is a fantastic opportunity for either an existing Associate Director that's looking to broaden their career with a leading PQS firm or a well-established Associate / Executive Quantity Surveyor that is looking to take the next step up in their career.
Alongside the traditional QS duties, we're ideally seeking someone who's on the pathway to lead and build a small team and assist in contributing to the national growth strategy.
High level technical QS skills are essential as is the ability to participate collegiality with your national peers, positively advocating for WT with clients and stakeholders.
Responsibilities include:
- Identifying opportunities to develop new business with existing clients
- Building, mentoring and management of a team of Quantity Surveyors and Cost Engineers
- Attending and facilitating client and consultant meetings
- Taking a leading role in interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages
- Ability to manage and grow the Cairns office, with support from WT proving client introductions
- Assigning project tasks and responsibilities
- Implementing and ensuring commercial processes are being adhered to
- Providing commercial support to team members
- Implement and maintain Quality Assurance processes
- Proactively identifying issues and problems within projects and deploying solutions efficiently
- General Quantity Surveying duties as required to support service levels
- Technical expert in pre-contract and cost planning works
Qualifications
We would love to hear from you if you have:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in any of the following areas: Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- Experience in a leadership role, managing a team and client relationships
- Experience working with and supporting operational executives
- Ideally 10+ years industry experience, preferably in Australia
- Highly motivated with a passion for delivering excellence to clients
- Excellent communication skills and ability to manage a team and control multiple projects/client commissions
- Full Australian working rights and currently located in Australia
- RICS / AIQS accredited candidates will be highly regarded
- Proficient in the use of Cost X
- Ability to produce both top down and bottom up cost plans
- A thorough understanding of the total project life cycle, from conception, through to completion and post-project review
