LaGrange County REMC distributes electricity to over 7,000 members through a network of 600+ miles of power lines.  As a cooperative, our commitment to exemplary service is equal to our drive to provide affordable and reliable power to our members. Job Description

As the manager of our Technical Services department, you will be responsible for monitoring, implementing, and maintaining our fiber optic broadband network.  You will serve as a key technical resource to the organization and provide technical support to internal and external customers.  You will be an individual who isn’t afraid to “get their hands dirty” by visiting and troubleshooting equipment in the field.  You are highly organized, skilled at managing multiple projects and can easily communicate technical information in understandable laymen’s terms.  You are a proactive problem solver who can think critically and deterministically during incidents and outages.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in telecommunication, networking, engineering, IT or related field
  • Considerable experience in fiber optic network systems, IP transport and routing, network architecture, and cybersecurity.
  • Practical knowledge of Juniper, Cisco, Calix and other vendors’ networking technologies, network standards and best practices, and network security and controls.
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge to support typical ISP/Ethernet services.
  • Advanced knowledge of IPv4 and IPv6 deployment and practical use.
  • Advanced knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.).
  • Proficient in managing Windows and Linux Servers.
  • Skilled at communicating clearly and calmly with frustrated users who are not technically adept.
  • Capable of motivating team members, fostering collaboration, and managing projects as well as daily responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of IP Telephony is a plus.
