SmartRecruiters named a Top Workplace in 2020

In challenging times, companies are measured by how they adapt, innovate, and rally their team around a company’s vision, mission and culture. SmartRecruiters has doubled down on these efforts amidst the pandemic and is proud to share the company has been named a Top Workplaces 2020 by Bay Area News Group. The award is selected based solely on anonymous employee feedback and measures 15 drivers of engaged cultures including alignment, execution, and connection.

After a bold declaration of no mass layoffs or furloughs due to COVID, SmartRecruiters made a successful transition to a fully remote workforce and leveraged the moment by hiring key talent in areas such as professional services and sales. In order to keep employees engaged, the company held its first International Smartian Day, a virtual event dedicated to employee connection with only one rule: no work allowed. The company also created the SmartCafe, an online cafe open 24/7 for employees to sign on for L&D programming or simply to socialize and catch up as if they were in the office.

“Our employees are our first priority. While the transition to a fully remote workforce was fast and furious, our goal remains to keep employees connected, motivated and also supported in their different working environments. So we’ve put a lot of new programs in place to help. We are also monitoring employee needs as time evolves. We now check our employee NPS monthly – which gives us a pulse and feedback of what we’re doing right and how we can better support,” says Sarah Wilson, Head of People at SmartRecruiters.

The results have been extremely positive to date. The company recorded its highest rated +44 eNPS and the most successful first-half results in company history. When contemplating the future of work at the company, SmartRecruiters recently announced it was going remote-first permanently. The move gives employees more flexibility to work in the environment that suits them best and opens up remote jobs around the world. The company is committed to supporting employees with new remote-first programs and hiring more diverse talent that is not centered around office locations, which is a key principle of the company’s anti-racist plan.

“Our mission is critical as ever, especially in challenging times like a pandemic. SmartRecruiters is on a mission to connect people to jobs at scale, and especially overlooked people that traditionally face barriers to finding employment. Our employees have shown continuous grit and dedication to supporting each other and our customers during this time, and I couldn’t be more proud. This award is a testament to what we’re building together,” says Jerome Ternynck, CEO of SmartRecruiters.
