Job Description

ProSidian Seeks a Construction Health and Safety Specialist - Construction headquartered near Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina to support an engagement for Nuclear Energy Sector Clients The Savannah River Site (SRS), a 310 square mile (198,046 acres) Department of Energy site, is located in the sand-hills region of South Carolina. It encompasses parts of Aiken, Barnwell and Allendale counties and is bordered on the west by the Savannah River and Georgia. SRS is close to several cities, including Augusta, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina. It is also within a few hours of Atlanta, Savannah, Charleston, Greenville and Charlotte. 

This *** | Exempt position currently best aligns with the Construction Health and Safety Specialist CO 109 Labor Category and ideal candidates exhibit the ability to visualize, analyze, and convert data and experiences to meet performance challenges while confidently engaging in productive “Jugaad” and dialogue targeting mission success.  ProSidian Team Members work to provide temporary staffing support services to support Savannah River Remediation (SRR), the Liquid Waste (LW) Contractor located at the Department of Energy Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC 29808.  Services anticipated includes storage, integration, treatment and disposition of the liquid radioactive waste being managed at the Savannah River Site (DOE).

Provides expert technical assistance to company and field construction operations on moderate to high risk scopes of work to ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, Local and/or company safety and health regulations. Develops efficient solutions to controversial problems applying a high degree of creativity and ingenuity in regular work assignments. Applies advanced principles gained through formal education and/or extensive work experience. Monitors, analyzes, and investigates workplace activities and potential hazards to support company initiatives within assigned area or facility(s) through review of work packages, assessments, walk downs, and/or observations. Functions as an expert responsible for multiple Safety & Health (S&H) facets within assigned facility(s). Responsible for identifying and mitigating hazardous conditions that affect workers, property, the environment, and the general public.

Position Responsibilities:

·      Incorporates Safety and Health (S&H) practices and technical requirements into problem solving and programmatic planning.

·      Performs S&H practices by anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling occupational hazards in the workplace.

·      Ensures compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.

·      Performs predictive assessments of occupational hazards.

·      Develops and conducts occupational hazard inspections.

·      Serves as subject matter expert for specific S&H disciplines.

·      Develops reports, briefings, presentations, and communications related to S&H.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

·      Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of related Safety & Health (S&H) experience; or associates degree and 10+ years of Safety & Health (S&H) experience; or high school diploma and 12+ years of Safety & Health (S&H) experience.

Computer Skills:

·      Intermediate computer skills including: e-mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Additional Position Requirements:

Work hours:

·      A 40-hour workweek is scheduled. SRR construction utilizes a 10 hour per day - four days per week schedule.

·      A  standard  work  week  is  Monday  through  Thursday  6:30am - 5:00pm. However, alternate schedules could be employed.

·      Overtime up to 25% of normal work schedules may be required.

·      Workweek excludes SRR holidays.

·      Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.

·      Candidates must possess a valid driver's license

·      Personal vehicles operated by candidate must have valid registration

·      Personal vehicles operated by candidate must be insured with proof of insurance within the vehicle
